Description:

Bard College’s Department of Athletics and Recreation is seeking an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. In this role, the Assistant Coach will act as support to the College’s Intercollegiate Program with the intention of maintaining the program within the guidelines of the NCAA Division III and additional conference affiliations.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Consults with Head Coach regarding daily practice plans and training assignments
  • Communications with Head Coach regarding evaluations of student athletes and assists with the implementation of necessary strategies to maintain the program in a competitive manner
  • Manages practices in the event that the Head Coach is unavailable due to illness or personal emergency
  • Prepares team for competitions related to uniform inventory, sports medicine items, and other necessary team travel items. Oversees and maintains equipment inventory in collaboration with Head Coach and/or Team Manager
  • Assists Head Coach in areas of competition plans, recruitment or prospective student athletes, scouting, fundraising, team travel operations, and academic monitoring
  • Responsible for organizing related documents, i.e., opponents’ schedules, rosters, and scouting reports
  • Displays commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and ethical conduct as per the NCAA Constitution which are consistent with Bard College’s educational mission and goals
  • Adheres to additional policies and procedures contained in the Bard College Coaches’ Handbook

 

Qualifications

  • Experience as a player or coach is highly preferred
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification is strongly recommended and will be required upon hire
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends
  • Strong computer skills
  • Recruiting capabilities
  • Leadership and role model experience
  • Must have interest in supporting an environment in which students of all experience and ability levels and from diverse backgrounds are supported and encouraged

Compensation: $17,500; the season operates from August through May
This salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
