Description:

Teach skills related to the Women’s Basketball Program. Develop and implement thorough, sound and safe teaching plans. Initiate and devise, for discussion and approval, teaching plans to successfully implement all fundamentals required by the sport/specific position. Make maximum use of all technologies to develop the student-athlete to her fullest potential. (20%)
Recruit student-athletes that can contribute athletically to the program and also reflect the academic standards of UB. Recruit approved student-athletes within assigned area to include planning, implementing, and on-the-road recruiting. Determine which students to recruit and offer scholarships and how to recruit those students. Develop, maintain and foster positive public relations with high schools within assigned area. Make maximum use of letter writing, phone calls, clinic instruction and/or attendance, etc. in order to maintain a high level of visibility throughout these assigned communities. Maintain accurate recruiting lists and have thorough knowledge of all NCAA and University rules and regulations. Acquire all necessary knowledge to successfully pass the NCAA mandated recruiting exam. (40%)
Interact with the student-athlete and her family. Provide counsel, guidance, and support as necessary while consistent with team philosophy. Oversee the academic success of the student-athlete and assist with academic problems. Work cooperatively with Student-Athlete Academic Services. Support the well-being of the student-athlete in cooperation with the services of Sports Performance, Sports Medicine, and departments providing information regarding prevention and care of athletic injuries, and health and nutrition. (14%)
Responsible for procurement, purchasing, facilities management, and fund raising for the sport program. (8%)
Responsible for travel arrangements for team travel. (10%)
Responsible for managing and administering the team budget. (5%)
Responsible for compliance with the policies and rules of the University, the NCAA, and the Mid-American Conference. Interact professionally with support staff throughout the Division of Athletics (e.g., Student Services, Sports Information, Facilities, Business Office, etc.). Interact professionally with university faculty, staff and student body on a frequent basis. (3%)
