Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach/Instructor will be responsible for designing skill development programs for student-athletes and overseeing all aspects of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball program. In the absence of the Head Coach the Assistant Coach will have the responsibility to act and function as the head coach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assume the duties of the Head Coach in her absence.
Oversee and direct other assistants as well as volunteer coaches, graduate assistants and student managers.
Attend at all competitions and practices unless directed to other tasks by the head coach and is responsible for teaching student-athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
Provide instruction in physical health, nutrition and safety.
Provide instruction in team concepts and sports etiquette.
Responsibilities also include developing successful recruitment strategies, following up on prospective students, researching and targeting high schools and athletic camps as sources for potential student-athletes and visiting high schools and athletic camps to conduct student interviews.
