Assist the head coach with planning, developing, and coaching the team within Smith College, NCAA Division III and NEWMAC rules and regulations. Serve as recruitment coordinator for basketball and administer basketball budget.

Assist the head coach with planning an instructional practice and competitive schedule for basketball based on an assessment of the student-athletes’ needs including pre and post season.  Conduct organized and objective based practices. Enhance individual as well as team skills. Teach and coach student-athletes, focusing on skill and tactical improvements.  Be knowledgeable of and comply with all college, NCAA and NEWMAC policies, rules and regulations. Create a team coaching staff.Administer the basketball budget, recruiting budget, and follow college policies and procedures.  Create budget expenditures for uniforms and equipment. Follow budget plan and stay within planned amounts.

Serve as a recruiting coordinator for basketball, identifying tournaments, showcases, and games to attend to generate prospective student-athletes.  Travel to tournaments and showcases as necessary. Communicate with prospects to yield high caliber basketball players and top notch students who will matriculate at Smith.  Recruit prospective scholar-athletes to attend Smith College and who participate on the team.  Perform outreach to underrepresented student groups and track said outreach efforts.  Correspond with prospects using a variety of communication channels; including written, in person contact, phone, home visits, official visits. Communicate with admissions office identifying potential candidates.
