Description:

The University of Vermont is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Coach for Player Development and Operations within our Women’s Basketball program. This position provides day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions while assisting with on court coaching and player development for the basketball program. This position works closely with the head coach and basketball coaching staff, in the overall direction of a successful Division I basketball program. The candidate must be committed to the student-athlete’s academic, personal, and athletic growth and development. Assistant Coach for Player Development and Operations will be asked to bring a relentless work ethic and attention to detail to the position while being an accessible and reliable member in the Vermont Women’s Basketball program.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

 

Assists the Head Coach in various administrative assignments, organization of practices, video, recruitment, team travel, scouting, fund raising, academics, and any other area of responsibility as directed by the Head Coach. Support student-athletes’ academic and basketball careers. Manage day to day operations of Basketball office. Coordinate travel and meals for team, coaches, and associated personnel. Handle all meals and refueling options. Manage travel and general budget. Schedule meetings and other team functions. Coordinate recruiting visits for prospective student-athletes. Manage, develop, and incorporate social media exposure. Manage and ensure technology systems and software are properly installed and maintained. Coordinate basketball camps and clinics, including communication, outreach, recruitment. Manage special projects as assigned by the basketball coaching staff. Attend CPR and other safety classes arranged by Athletics and receive certificate. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Adhere to all NCAA, America East and the University of Vermont rules and regulations.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years of successful collegiate experience, preferably at the Division I level
  • Able to form and maintain relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Able to communicate effectively on different platforms (zoom, phone, public speaking)
  • A strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, change direction quickly and prioritize tasks based on the needs of the program
  • Be a self-starter and take initiative
  • A record of integrity and leadership
  • A demonstrated commitment to issues of social justice and diversity
  • A commitment to the academic success and graduation of student-athletes
  • Candidates must be able to travel extensively.
  • Experience with or ability to learn MAC Interface, Synergy software, ARMS, JustPlay, Microsoft Office Suites and digital design
