This 11 month position will assist the Head Coach in establishing and successfully coaching the Women’s basketball program in a cost effective manner. They will also assist the Sports Information Director to promote the advancement of Grand View University through athletic achievements and create opportunities for the marketing of Grand View University.

Essential Functions of Job:
Assistant Coach Responsibilities:
1. Assist in developing a successful Women’s basketball program.
a. Recruitment of student athletes in accordance with NAIA rules and regulations.
b. Coordinate team travel and meal accommodations.
c. Develop and implement training.
d. Assist in the organization of fundraising activities.
e. Assist in the organization and management of home games and summer camps.
2. Perform administrative duties as assigned.
3. Follow college procedures associated with the purchase of equipment.
4. Maintain confidentiality.

Assistant Sports Information Director Responsibilities:
1.Be in attendance of all home events within assigned sports.
2.Maintain stats for assigned sports.
3.Report results to local media.
4.Keep GV athletic website updated with scores, recaps, news within expected timeframe.
5.Communicate with coaches of assigned sports in regards to results, scheduling, sports information updates (rosters, news, signings, etc.)
6.Assist in production of media guides for all sports for distribution.
7.Coordinate and carry-out production of programs for home events.
8.Weekly reporting of scores and statistics and nominations of weekly awards to conference and national office.
9.E-mail results to proper media outlets of both home and visiting teams.
10.Schedule and monitor work study employees.
11.Maintain consistent and effective communication with Sports Information Director, coaches, and staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1.Bachelors degree in Journalism or related field required
2.Master’s degree preferred.
3.Knowledge of Stat Crew, SIDHelp, and previous sports writing experience preferred.
4.Must be able to interact well with students, parents, faculty and staff.
5.Successful coaching experience at the high school or college level and participation in basketball at the college level required.
