This is the primary assistant coaching position reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. The Assistant Coach will be an integral part of the coaching staff and the responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

RECRUITING a. Identify and recruit highly qualified student-athletes b. Build relationships with prospective players and their families c. Promote strengths and values of Alvernia University COACHING a. Planning practices and game strategies b. Scouting opponents c. Develop fundamentals, skills and basketball intelligence; emphasis on guard position, ball handling and court management [generalship] d. Foster team building, teamwork and sportsmanship e. Mentoring student-athletes’ in positive manner f. Monitor and regulate academic progress of student-athletes ADMINISTRATION & PR a. Administer team travel, hotel accommodations, meal plans, etc. b. Facilitate fundraising in support of the women’s basketball program and in support and in conjunction with the fundraising efforts of the university c. Advocate community service and outreach programs that the team can identify with and help support throughout the year.
