Washington & Jefferson head women’s basketball coach reached another milestone Saturday afternoon when she collected her 500th career win as the Presidents rolled to a 74-50 victory over host Waynesburg in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
DeRubbo, currently in her 19th season as W&J’s head coach, is in her 26th season as a college head coach after spending her first seven seasons at fellow conference institution Bethany. She has amassed a 369-144 (.719) record in Washington after posting a 131-57 (.697) mark at Bethany, giving her a career record of 500-201 (.713).
She becomes the first basketball coach — men’s or women’s — in PAC history to reach 500 coaching wins exclusively as a PAC coach. DeRubbo is just one of 20 active Division III women’s basketball coaches with 500 wins. Her teams have reached 20 wins a whopping 17 times in her coaching career. Her teams have posted winning seasons in 24 of her 26 seasons at the helm.
