Jasmine Hotchkins named Portland Pilots director of basketball operations

Portland Pilots Women’s Basketball Head Coach Michael Meek has named Jasmine Hotchkins as the new director of basketball operations for the team.

“We are excited to be adding Jasmine Hotchkins to our staff at the University of Portland,” Meek said. “Jasmine has an incredible work ethic and has worked hard for this opportunity. She is passionate about the game of basketball, but also for supporting our student athletes. She is also a great leader who works well with others. We are very excited about her ability to create a great team environment and enhance the experience for our student-athletes. Jasmine is one of the great young coaches and we are thrilled for her to be a part of the Pilot family.”

“I’m looking forward to this new chapter in Portland and I’m thankful to be a part of this program and staff,” Hotchkins said. “This team has a lot of potential and knowing I get to be a part of what Coach Meek is building at the University of Portland is exciting. I can’t wait to take on this new role and I’m grateful they’re giving me this opportunity!”

Hotchkins joins the Pilots after most recently working as an assistant coach for Phoenix Fire Prep, an AAU squad based in Arizona. Before that, Hotchkins had assistant coaching stints at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. and at Eastern New Mexico University.

Hotchkins was an accomplished college player herself, playing at both Eastern New Mexico and at East Tennessee State University. During her time with East Tennessee, the Buccaneers advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and were runners-up in the 2015 Southern Conference Tournament. They earned a WNIT appearance in 2015.

The former guard graduated from Eastern New Mexico in 2018, where she helped guide the Greyhounds to winning seasons in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Hotchkins pursued a master’s degree in Kinesiology after that at Texas A&M Corpus Christ. During her time in Corpus Christi, Hotchkins was a graduate assistant with the women’s basketball team, assisting the director of operations with various duties.
