Janell Crayton Del Rosario out as Women’s Basketball Coach at Bethune-Cookman

Bethune-Cookman University Athletics announced today that it has parted ways with Head Coach Janell Crayton Del Rosario after five seasons leading the Women’s Basketball program.

“We are grateful to Coach Crayton Del Rosario for five years of leadership, dedication, and service to our women’s basketball student-athletes and university,” said Reggie Theus, Vice President of Athletics. “Coach Crayton Del Rosario has made meaningful contributions to our women’s basketball program, and we sincerely appreciate the time, energy, and commitment invested in developing our young people both on and off the court.  We wish her continued success in the future.  Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.”

Crayton Del Rosario amassed a 48-101 record during her tenure, including a 32-58 mark in SWAC play.

During her time as head coach, Crayton Del Rosario led the women’s basketball program through significant growth while emphasizing academic achievement, character development, and competitive excellence at the Division I level. She was a critical part of leading Bethune-Cookman Women’s Basketball as it made its foray in to the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

“This was a thoughtful decision made with the long-term success of our program in mind,” Theus added.  “Our priorities remain: building a championship culture, providing an outstanding experience for our student-athletes, and positioning Bethune-Cookman Athletics for sustained success.”

A national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
