Illinois State women’s basketball coach Barb Smith added Erin Dickerson to her staff Friday as an assistant coach. Dickerson is the second assistant coach named to the new staff.
"I’ve watched Erin Dickerson grow from a terrific player at Northwestern to a great young coach," Smith said. "I could not be more excited to have her on our Redbird staff. She brings a lot of energy, has a tremendous work ethic, loves player development and is an exceptional recruiter."
Dickerson played Division I basketball and has worked in the field since 2009.
"I am very grateful to Coach Smith for the opportunity to be a part of such a rich tradition as the one here at Illinois State," Dickerson said. "With her leadership, knowledge and passion for the game, I am confident that we will do great things here."
Dickerson spent the last three seasons at LaSalle, where she served as the recruiting coordinator for the past two seasons. At LaSalle, Dickerson was in charge of recruiting prospects and organizing evaluations, contacts and unofficial and official visits with prospective student-athletes. She also assisted the head coach in day-to-day operations, including carrying out practice plans and compliance needs. Dickerson supervised the staff expenses, including putting together itemized reports monthly for each coach.
Dickerson, who works with point and shooting guards, was also an assistant at Furman for two seasons. At Furman, she scouted games, managed monthly schedules for the players and managed the summer camps. Dickerson, who played at Northwestern for four seasons, was a captain for the Wildcats.
She is currently working on Master’s degree in professional and business communication from LaSalle.
