Illinois Central College has named Karrie Redeker as its new head women’s basketball coach, the fourth in the program’s history. Redeker is slated to replace Cindy Stein, who resigned earlier this month for the head coaching position at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
During her six- year tenure as head women’s basketball coach at Parkland College (Champaign), Redeker led the Cobras to three Region 24 titles and advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament three times. Each of those national appearances earned the team respectable finishes of third (2010-11), sixth (2009-10), and fourth (2008-09). Redeker’s teams have compiled an overall record of 158-45. Her Parkland teams have completed six consecutive 20-win seasons.
