Idaho women’s basketball head coach Arthur Moreira announced the addition of three former head coaches to his coaching staff, welcoming Brianna Chambers, Skyler Young and Erin O’Bryan as assistant coaches, and new graduate assistant Natalie Fraley, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The new additions bring extensive coaching and player-development experience to Moscow, including Division I head coaching experience, conference championship experience and a strong background in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
Brianna Chambers
Brianna Chambers brings two decades of collegiate coaching experience to Moscow, including seven seasons as a head coach and 13 years as a Division I assistant.
“I am very excited to add Coach Chambers to our staff. I tried to hire her every single offseason I have been a Head Coach at Idaho, and I was finally able to tire her out and convince her to join our staff,” Arthur Moreira states. “She is a great relationship builder and a very experienced coach, bringing 7 years of experience as a Head Coach and 13 years as a Division 1 assistant. Bri values the right things and truly cares about the student-athletes and their experience, which align with our vision and culture.”
Chambers spent the last seven seasons at Niagara University, starting as an Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for her first two seasons with the Purple Eagles before being promoted to Associate Head Coach in January 2021. During her time in New York, Niagara posted its best MAAC record during the 2022-23 season, finishing 16-4 in conference play and 18-13 overall.
Preceding her role at Niagara, Chambers served as an assistant coach and co-defensive coordinator, as well as the guards’ skill development coach alongside the Vandals’ current Associate Head Coach, Drew Muscatell, for four seasons.
Chambers also spent seven seasons as the head coach at Dominican University of California, where she assisted in the school’s transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. In her final season, Chambers led Dominican to a top-eight finish in the conference to qualify for the PacWest conference tournament.
Chambers began her collegiate coaching career as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Cal State – Monterey Bay, where she worked from 2004-07. While there, she again helped CSUMB transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II and into the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference.
She received her associate’s degree in liberal arts from Bakersfield College in 1999, where she played basketball and ran track, and completed her bachelor’s degree in communications in 2002 at Cal State – Bakersfield, where she played basketball for one season.
Skyler Young
Skyler Young joins the Vandals after three seasons as the head coach at Seattle University, bringing 21 years of coaching experience to Moscow. During his time at Seattle, the Redhawks earned several conference and academic honors, including an All-WCC honorable mention, two All-Academic All-WCC selections, an All-WAC Freshman Team selection, 15 All-WAC Academic honors and five College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections.
Moreira says, “It is not every day you get to add a Division 1 Head Coach to your staff. I have known Coach Young for a long time since our time competing against each other in the WCC. He is one of the best recruiters in the game and knows the Pacific Northwest better than anybody else. He’s going to be an incredible addition to our staff and will raise the level and accountability of our team and staff daily.”
Before his three seasons as head coach of the Redhawks, Young was an assistant coach at the University of Portland from 2018-2023, where he helped the Pilots win two West Coast Conference titles, earn two NCAA Tournament berths and make a WNIT appearance.
Young’s coaching career has included stops at several Division I programs, including Big Sky Conference foes Weber State, where he spent two seasons, as well as Bradley University, Ohio University, Western Michigan and Detroit Mercy.
Young even spent time as an equipment manager with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, where he assisted with on-court individual skill development before beginning his coaching career in 2005.
Erin O’Bryan
Erin O’Bryan joins the Vandals to begin her collegiate coaching career after three seasons as the head coach at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona.
Moreira says, “Erin has been one of the best high school coaches in the country for years. She has won a lot of games and coached a lot of incredible players during her time at Desert Vista. She also LIVES in the gym. Want a 6 am workout? Coach OB got you. 10 pm? She will be there. With how much we focus on player development, her expertise in that area is going to take our program to the next level.”
O’Bryan took over the 2023 season following the Thunder winning the inaugural Open Division State Championship. She led Desert Vista to a 48-38 record over her three seasons.
O’Bryan played three seasons at UC Santa Barbara before completing her collegiate career at Arizona during the 2007-08 season.
Before her Division I collegiate career, O’Bryan was a former prep standout herself. In 2003, O’Bryan was named the Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year, leading Gilbert Highland High School to an undefeated season and a 5A State Title.
Natalie Fraley
Natalie Fraley joins the Vandals after spending the 2022-23 season at Utah State before spending three seasons at the University of Portland from 2023-26. During her time with the Pilots, Fraley was part of two conference championship teams, gaining firsthand experience within a program that consistently competed at the top of its league.
“Natalie joins our program after winning two conference championships as a player at the University of Portland,” Moreira said, “She is young, hungry and a hard worker. Her attention to detail and experience with winning will be huge additions to our program.”
Fraley now begins her coaching career with the Vandals, bringing experience from two Division I programs and a firsthand understanding of the preparation, culture and daily expectations that come with competing for championships.
With the additions of Chambers, Young, O’Bryan and Fraley, Moreira said he is excited about the experience and perspective the new staff brings to the program, “We lost huge pieces of our coaching staff last year, but were able to hire three former head coaches with a lot of experience. I am excited about the staff we put together and where our program is heading! Vandal fans should be excited about what is next for us!”
