Idaho State Women’s Basketball Staff Update

The Idaho State women’s basketball program has two new assistant coaches. Head Coach Seton Sobolewski has announced the hiring of Katelin King and Jasmine Stohr as assistant coaches.

King has spent the last two years as a graduate assistant with the Concordia University Irvine women’s basketball program. King also played collegiately at Cal State Northridge and was a part of two Big West Conference tournament championships, one regular season championship and two NCAA tournament appearances.

After medically retiring prior to the start of her senior year, she joined the staff as an undergraduate assistant and was the teams video coordinator. King graduated with a bachelors of science in kinesiology and received her masters degree in athletic administration.

“Katelin comes highly recommended from some of our trusted friends,” Sobolewski said. “She grew up in a basketball house hold and has always been around great coaches. Unfortunately her playing career at Northridge was cut short, but this allowed her to start transitioning into be a coach earlier than most. We are fortunate to have her in Pocatello.”

Stohr comes to Idaho State after serving as an assistant at Providence College in the Frontier Conference. She was inducted in the Lewis and Clark Athletic Hall of Fame as a three-time All-American where she finished her career with 2,143 points.

“Jasmine also comes to us with recommendations from some highly respected coaches,” Sobolewski said. “She was a Hall of Fame player at Lewis and Clark and then had a successful professional playing career before moving into coaching. She has good experience coaching at the NAIA, AAU, and high school levels. We can’t wait for her to start.”

Since Sobolewski took over as head coach in 2009 he has seen his former assistants have successful careers in the coaching industry as well as in athletic administration and the health care profession.

Take a look at where former assistants to Sobolewski have ended up.
Jordan Green- Gonzaga (assistant)
Angela Munger- USC (Associate Director, Athletic Advising)
Ashley Elliott- Nevada- Reno (Operations Coordinator)
Laura Dinkins- Long Beach State (assistant)
Bryana Mueller- Saint Bonaventure (assistant)

“One thing I am especially happy and proud about is how our former assistants have progressed in their careers,” Sobolewski said. “I absolutely cannot take credit for their success. That success belongs directly to them, their talents and work ethics, but I feel good knowing that maybe we’ve helped them along the way.”

“I’m also very proud of our former assistants who moved out of coaching and became very successful in other careers. Angela Munger has become very successful at USC in academics and Kemie Nkele has moved on with a career in Physical Therapy in Florida.”
