HOT: Ohio’s Boldon inks five-year extension

Ohio women’s basketball head coach Bob Boldon has signed a five-year contract extension through 2020, Ohio Athletic Director Jim Schaus announced today.

"I am elated to announce a contract extension for Bob Boldon," Schaus said. "It is well deserved. Bob has lead one of the most pronounced turnarounds in college basketball this year. He has done a remarkable job in all facets of his job. He is building something special. The future of our women’s basketball program is very bright under Bob’s leadership, "

In just two seasons at the helm of the program, Boldon is 33-25 and 20-16 in the Mid-American Conference and has directed Ohio to one of the greatest improvements in basketball this season, leading the squad to a 25-4 (16-2 MAC) season. The win total is the highest since 1985-86 and only the fourth 20-plus win season in program history.

"I am honored by this extension," Boldon said. "It says that we are doing a lot of great things as a program."

The 2015 MAC Coach of the Year also led Ohio to its first MAC Regular Season Conference crown in 20 years and the number one overall seed entering this week’s MAC Tournament. The Bobcats will be making their first postseason tournament appearance since 1994-95.

"Our success is truly a team effort of talented student-athletes, an outstanding coaching staff, administration and loyal fans," Boldon said. "I am excited about the future."
