HOT: Lindley resigns at Nebraska Omaha

University of Nebraska Omaha women’s basketball head coach Chance Lindley has stepped down from his position for personal reasons, effective immediately.

“Obviously, this is difficult timing given the proximity of the season,” Director of Athletics Trev Alberts said. “Given that challenge and in order to maintain continuity for our students, I have named assistant coach Brittany Lange the interim head coach for the 2013-14 season.

“Coach Lange has proven herself an excellent coach and recruiter in her two years here at UNO, and we will support the entire staff in every way possible to help our student-athletes succeed on the court and in the classroom.”

Lange joined the UNO staff in 2011-12 prior to the Mavericks’ first Division I season. In their first two Division I campaigns, the Mavericks compiled a 32-23 record and finished in the top half of the Summit League standings in their first run through the league schedule last year.

“I appreciate the confidence Trev and the administration have placed in me,” Lange said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead of us. As a staff, we will focus all of our energy and efforts on our student-athletes. We have a tremendous group of young women and are excited to begin the season.”
