The Adams State University women’s basketball team will be led by a new face on the sidelines for the 2013-14 season, as the university’s athletic department will not renew former Head Coach Kelly Kruger’s contract for the 2013-14 season.
Kruger leaves Adams State with a 96-101 overall record in seven seasons at the helm of the women’s basketball program.
The Grizzlies made two consecutive runs to the NCAA Tournament under Kruger during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons but had gone just 16-36 over the past two seasons. Kruger’s squad failed to win back to back conference games this season and finished 3-7 over their final ten contests.
Adams State University Director of Athletics Larry Mortensen stated, “Adams State appreciates the efforts of Coach Kruger in building the women’s basketball program. There were many accomplishments during his tenure. We wish him well in future endeavors.”
A search for Adams State University’s next women’s basketball coach will commence immediately.
