HOT: Florida extends Butler through 2019

Florida women’s basketball head coach Amanda Butler has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season, Athletics Director Jeremy Foley announced Wednesday.

Butler is the second-winningest coach in program history. The Gators have averaged 19 wins per season during Butler’s eight-year tenure at her alma mater and earned a postseason berth seven times.

Florida, which finished the 2014-15 season with a 13-17 overall record, loses just one player to graduation for next year. Redshirt senior Kayla Lewis, who in May of 2015 will receive her second bachelor’s degree, capped her final collegiate season as the team’s leading rebounder (6.4 rpg) and third-best scorer (9.1 ppg) and closed her career with 1,053 points, a total that ranks No. 22 in program history.
