Holy Cross Women’s Basketball job officially opens

Holy Cross is officially conducting a national search for a new head women’s basketball coach.

Ann McInerney had served as the interim head coach of the Crusaders this past season, following the suspension of long-time head coach Bill Gibbons, and the expiration of his contract last June. This fall, Gibbons sued the college for $750,000, accusing accusing school officials of “breach of contract, defamation, age discrimination, infliction of emotional distress and other wrongdoing.”

The Crusaders went 19-11 (11-7 Patriot League) this past season.

Holy Cross released the following statement today regarding their search:

Holy Cross Athletics has announced it will commence a national search for the next permanent head coach of the women’s basketball program.

“Women’s basketball is a top priority at Holy Cross, and our goal is to consistently compete for Patriot League titles,” said Director of Athletics Marcus Blossom. “I am confident that through this process we will identify a dynamic, inspirational leader who will not only help us vie for championships, but also ensure that our student-athletes excel academically and develop socially and spiritually.”

The search for the program’s leader will begin immediately and continue until an appointment is made. A full description of the position can be found here. Application materials should be submitted via the College’s employment site or via email to [email protected]
