Hoffman Promoted to Associate Head Coach at Trine

Head Coach Andy Rang has announced that Rob Hoffman has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach of the Trine University women’s basketball team after serving has the assistant coach since the fall of 2017.

“Coach Hoffman has been an integral part of our rise to national prominence,” said Rang, “He is a great coach and recruiter and he has proven that there is no one that is more loyal and dedicated to our program and players. He definitely deserves and has earned this promotion.”

Hoffman returned to Trine as an assistant in the fall of 2017. Since then the Thunder have captured two MIAA Regular-Season Championships, a MIAA Tournament Championship, made three appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and reached the Sweet 16 twice.

“I want to thank Coach Rang and the rest of Trine University for the opportunity I’ve been given not only now, but since coming to Trine,” said Hoffman, “I look forward to taking the next step as a program while continuing the tradition we have built.”

After graduating from Trine in the spring of 2016, Hoffman took a graduate assistant position during the 2016-17 season with the Florida State University men’s basketball team. During that year, the Seminoles went to the second round of the NCAA tournament. He worked with a trio of players who were drafted to the NBA in Jonathon Isaac, Dwayne Bacon, and Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

As a student-assistant at Trine, Hoffman was a part of the turnaround for the Thunder which ended with Trine making it to the conference championship and having two second-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association award winners.
