USF women’s basketball assistant coach Kaitlyn Hodgins, who has just finished her first season with the team, was promoted to Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the program announced earlier today.
“Kaitlyn is a rising star in the coaching world which made this one of the easiest decisions I had to make this season,” said Sioux Falls Head Coach Travis Traphagen. “Her ability to teach the game of basketball and ability to relate to student athletes is second to none. I am so blessed to have her on our staff here at USF and I know our players would mimic my statements. Congratulations, Kaitlyn!”
Hodgins was named an assistant coach of the Cougars women’s basketball team in June of 2022. This past season, she has helped produce four CSC Academic All-District Team members, 12 NSIC All-Academic Team honorees and six NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence Members.
Prior to Sioux Falls, Hodgins spent two years at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. She helped lead the Bulldogs to a 22-9 mark while reaching the NAIA national quarterfinals in 2021. Hodgins also helped guide her team back to the NAIA National Tournament in 2022 with a final record of 16-14.
Hodgins played basketball at the collegiate level for Northern Oklahoma College where she was named to the Region II All-Conference team as well as to the NJCAA All-Academic First Team. She also named the Mavericks team captain while tabbing Female Student Athlete of the Year honors her sophomore season.
Following her time at Northern Oklahoma, Hodgins took her talents to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) where she spent two seasons with the Drovers. Hodgins was once again named a team captain and was a two-time Sooner Athletic Conference All-Academic honoree.
A Seminole, Oklahoma native, Hodgins earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from USAO in 2020. Recently, Hodgins received her master’s in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia Irvine.
