Haggadone Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Northwood U.

The Northwood University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Autumn Haggadone as head coach of the women’s basketball team Friday afternoon (July 2).

She replaces Jeff Curtis, who recently resigned as head coach to take over as the Northwood Athletic Director. Haggadone becomes the eighth coach in the 41-year history of the program.

“I am thrilled to have Autumn take over as the head coach of the women’s basketball program, said Curtis. “She has the respect of the student-athletes, is a tireless worker and has been an outstanding representative of Northwood University. I know she will do a great job leading the team.”

Haggadone (pronounced Hag-ah-doan) recently completed her fourth season as an assistant coach at Northwood. She helped lead the Timberwolves to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history in the 2020-21 season, when the Timberwolves finished third in the GLIAC. Northwood has made the GLIAC Tournament three times in the last four years. NU went from winning 10 games in a full season in 2019-20 to earning 11 victories in the shortened 2020-21 season.

Haggadone joined the Northwood staff after being an assistant coach at her alma mater, Albion College for two seasons. She was a part of a Briton team that went 18-8 overall and reached the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament semifinals in 2016-17.

A four-year letterwinner and captain as a player for the Britons, Haggadone helped the team post 62 victories in her career. She graduated from Albion in 2012 with a degree in Physical Education.

“I would like to thank President MacDonald, Dave Marsh and all of the administration at Northwood for this great opportunity,” said Haggadone. “I would also especially like to thank Jeff Curtis for being a mentor, leader and friend over the years. This program means a lot to me and I am very excited to continue the success we have experienced under Jeff Curtis.”

Northwood returns 12 of its 14 players from last season’s team for the 2021-22 season.
