Three finalists have emerged as the search to replace Roonie Scovel at Gulf Coast State College begins to wind down.
All three candidates have officially interviewed, and a decision could be made by mid-week. According to multiple sources, the three finalists are:
• Bridget Goodnight – Assistant Gulf Coast State. Before being hired last season, she was an assistant at Nicholls State (3 seasons) and Pensacola State College (3 seasons). Is familiar with the Panhandle Conference from her days at PSC.
• Vernette Skeete – Assistant Coach Miami. Was a member of Gulf Coasts 2003 National Championship squad. Has been at Miami for three seasons and was an assistant at Northwest Florida State before that.
• Marie Christian – Former Assistant Coach at Elon. Was the starting point guard on Old Dominions 1985 National Championship squad. She has also been an assistant at ODU, University of California at Berkeley, University of Dayton, and at Western Illinois University.
