Great Lakes Christian College names Shannon as new Women’s Basketball Head Coach

 Great Lakes Christian College Director of Athletics Sam Sibilski has named Katy Shannon as the next Women’s basketball head coach.

“I am beyond excited to welcome our new Women’s basketball coach. She rose to the top as an assistant coach helping the GLCC Women’s Basketball program to their most succesful season in Program history and is uniquely poised to lead our program forward. Her dynamic personality and extremely high-level of basketball intelligence will enable her to come in and make an immediate impact. Most importantly, she truly cares about the student-athlete experience and will inspire our women to achieve greatness on and off of the court,” said Sibilski. 

“I am honored and humbled to officially be named the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Great Lakes Christian College. I am committed to empowering and inspiring my players on and off the court, fostering a culture of excellence, and continuing to contribute to the strong Christian values and mission of the College.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and support from President Weller, VP Greg Stauffer, Ray Kimball, and AD Sam Sibilski. Their dedication and belief in Women’s Basketball here at Great Lakes Christian College has truly been remarkable and will continue to set the program up for success. After a tremendous first year with an amazing group of women, we are excited to continue to build on future successes and further advance GLCC’s name in Women’s Basketball. “

Shannon’s first season as an assistant coach at GLCC was a record breaker including a program record of 16 -12, A first ever Regional Championship, A first ever National Championship along with their 1st ever Regional Player of the Year and 2nd Team All American (Sakura Nakano).

“I also want to acknowledge former Head Coach Ray Kimball who had to step away for personal reasons. He played a huge part in the recent success GLCC Women’s Basketball has had this year” said Athletic Director Sam Sibilski.
