Grays Harbor College names Weber new Women’s Basketball Coach

Will Rider, Director of Athletics at Grays Harbor College, has announced the recent hiring of Mark Weber as the newest addition to the Athletic Department staff.  Coach Weber will be taking over the reins of the women’s basketball program after Shareka Maner accepted a position at Saint Andrews University, an NAIA program in Laurinburg, NC.

Rider stated, “We are so excited to have Mark begin the process of re-building our women’s basketball program.  His experience as a collegiate coach who demands excellence both on the court and in the classroom will fit right into the high expectations that we maintain for Choker Athletics.  He has already hit the ground running and I look forward to the direction he is taking us.”

Prior to his signing with the Chokers, Coach Weber was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Consumnes River College in Sacramento, CA and spent numerous seasons in Georgia coaching high school girls and club basketball.  His connections also reach into the NBA and WNBA where he has worked extensively with former/retired professional players from those leagues.  Rider added, “Coach Weber is a very sensible, no-nonsense kind-of-guy who will be a very direct and honest communicator.  He has a passion for the game of basketball and his journey in life has given him unique and valuable tools to overcome adversity and transfer those lessons to others.”

Coach Weber stated, “I am grateful to be named the head women’s basketball coach at GHC.  I look forward to creating a culture of winning on and off the court.  We will have a competitive environment where we bring out the best in our players while empowering leaders who strive for greatness.”    Weber received his M.S. in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University, in Manchester, New Hampshire and his B.S. in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA.
