Grahm Smith as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at William Peace University

The William Peace University athletic department has named Grahm Smith as the new Head Coach for the women’s basketball program.

Executive Director of Athletic Strategy and Special Projects, Phil Rowe shared, “Grahm’s enthusiasm, recruiting plan, basketball intellect, and his proven success with his athletes in the classroom propelled him to the top of over 90 applicants. He is a talented professional that fits well with what our program was looking for. Grahm knows what it takes to build and sustain a successful women’s basketball program. With Grahm as our head coach we are excited about the future of PACER basketball.”

Coach Smith joins the Pacers after serving as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Dean College since 2013. During his time with the Bulldogs, Coach Smith earned a 96-37 overall win-loss record and a 43-3 conference record, while making three consecutive national tournament appearances.

While at Dean, Coach Smith also held additional titles as the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Success, Head Cross Country Coach, Assistant Athletic Recruiting Coordinator, Spring Home Athletic Events Game Manager, Academic Coach, and a Student Financial Planning Customer Service Representative along with his role with the women’s basketball program.

Prior to his time at Dean College, Coach Smith was the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Rockford University, a Division III institution in Rockford, IL. Coach Smith coached at Rockford University  from 2003-2008.

After a tough search process full of amazing candidates, I believe our search committee found the right fit. Coach Grahm Smith comes to us with a wealth of basketball success and knowledge and we look forward to him continuing that here in Hermann Athletic Center,” contributed William Peace University Athletic Director, Kevin Daniels. “I want to thank Coach Brandy Smith for leading our program the last two seasons and  wish her the best of luck as she continues to lead the youth in her teaching profession.”

Coach Grahm Smith shared, “I am proud and honored to become the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach at William Peace University. William Peace has all the right tools in place to attract high level student-athletes. The University and surrounding community afford any student-athlete a chance to experience a family atmosphere, along with an opportunity to compete for championships in the USA South Conference.” He continued, “I want to thank the entire administration and staff at William Peace University for allowing me the opportunity to lead the women’s basketball program. I would like to thank Dr. Ralph, Phil Rowe and Kevin Daniels for welcoming me into the William Peace family, and I am very excited for the future of William Peace University women’s basketball.”

Coach Smith, a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University, earned his Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on physical education and a minor in sports management. Smith earned his Masters in Education in 2012 at Rockford University. Coach Smith played collegiate basketball for Maryville College, a USA South Conference member, for one season and concluded his collegiate play at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In his free time, Coach Smith enjoys traveling, living an active and healthy lifestyle, and spending time with his wife Whitney, family and friends.
