The Grace University Athletic Department is pleased to announce Brandon Rogers as our new Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Rogers holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) in Secondary Education.
Coach Rogers began his collegiate playing career at Mayville State University in Mayville, ND but finished his time at the University of Maine-Augusta (UMA). During his time at UMA, Rogers was named the 2015-16 Yankee Small College Conference Player of the Year, a USCAA 1st Team All-American for three years and 1st Team All-Conference YSCC for three years. Coach Rogers has been an Associate Head Coach for the UMA Men’s Basketball team since he graduated in May 2016 and has done work with player development, team academics, scouting and recruitment.
Coach Rogers has an intense passion for the sport and brings great energy and a vision to develop the Grace Women’s Basketball program into a dynasty. He describes his three greatest focuses for the program to be character development, a dedication to winning, and player skill development.
As far as character development Coach Rogers aligns with the mission of Grace University is understanding athletics as a microcosm of life and an opportunity to grow in faith and as a person. He says, “I want to emphasize to my players the value of a team atmosphere centered on Christ. Creating a family atmosphere where we rally around each other and these young athletes become better human beings as they graduate.”
Building on the foundation of character and team, Coach Rogers has the ability to lead our women’s basketball program to the next level of competitive competition. “This program will be dedicated to winning. I will put every ounce of effort into creating multiple pathways of success,” Rogers says.
The Grace University athletic department has a vision to build all five of its varsity programs into powerhouses of competitive greatness, representing Christ’s excellence for the glory of God. Interim Athletic Director Courtney Moore says, “Coach Rogers is a perfect fit for Grace University athletics in our vision to perform with excellence for God’s glory, using athletics to lead each student-athlete more towards the Lord every day.”
