Goucher College head women’s basketball coach Patrick Daniel has finalized his coaching staff for the 2016-17 season with the hiring of two new assistant coaches, Marvin Evans and India Perkins. They join assistant coach Grace Williamson, who has been an assistant coach with Daniel for two years, including his first season at Goucher last year. All three assistant coaches will help with recruiting, scouting, on-court coaching, and player development.
Evans joins the women’s basketball coaching staff after serving as the 2015-16 Head Women’s Basketball Club Coach at Stevenson University and assistant women’s basketball coach at Anne Arundel Community College during the 2014-15 season. Evans also served as the Head Girl’s Varsity basketball coach at C. Milton Wright High School from 2011 – 2014 and the Head Boy’s Varsity basketball coach at Shoshana Cardin High School from 2008 – 2011.
Prior to coaching, Evans had a stellar playing career at NCAA Division III, Western Connecticut State University from 2000 – 2004. Evans helped lead his team to two Little East Conference regular season and tournament championships (2002 and 2003), and two NCAA Tournament second round appearances (2002 and 2003). Evans, who served as his team’s captain from 2002 – 2004, was also named First-Team All Little East Conference twice (2003 and 2004) and was named the Little East Conference player of the year during the 2003-04 season. In his final season, Evans was also named to the All-Northeast First Team selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Evans graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Perkins joins the women’s basketball coaching staff after being a member of Goucher Women’s Basketball team from 2012 – 2016. Perkins was a four-year starter playing in 96 career games and played for Coach Daniel in her senior season where she led the team in rebounds.
Perkins graduated from Goucher in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in studio arts. Perkins is pursuing her master’s degree at Goucher in Athletic Program Leadership and Administration. She is also the graduate assistant in the Office of Academic Center for Excellence.
“I am very excited about our coaching staff as we continue to move our basketball program in the right direction”, Daniel said. “I am blessed and fortunate to have a staff that brings very good experience and knowledge that will help develop our current players and also help in recruiting quality student-athletes to Goucher College”.
