Clark University women’s basketball head coach Pat Glispin has announced that she will be retiring after 38 years of leading the program.

Coach Glispin guided the program to 569 victories, three ECAC New England DIII Championships, four NEWMAC Championships, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, and 25 NEWMAC Tournament appearances.

Glispin was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 for her efforts leading the Cougars. She earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors in the 1997 and 2004 season as she guided Clark to NEWMAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in those seasons. The Cougars also won the NEWMAC Championship in 1998 and 2000.

From 1984-2001, Glispin led 17 consecutive seasons of over .500 play and appeared in five consecutive NEWMAC Championship Games from 1996-2000. During the 1988-89 season, Clark set the Division III record for consecutive wins at 36, won the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, reached the NCAA Elite Eight, and Glispin was named Converse District 1 Coach of the Year.

While at Clark, Glispin coached multiple All-American’s and had several players earn NEWMAC Player of the Year Honors as well as All-Conference Teams distinctions. 

Glispin graduated in 1975 from UMass Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and was a four-year letter winner in basketball. She earned her master’s degree in psychological education in 1987 from UMass Amherst. In high school, Glispin was a three-sport athlete (basketball, softball, field hockey) at Grafton High School and was inducted into the Grafton Hall of Fame in 2005.
