Gibbons named Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at D’Youville

D’Youville University women’s basketball head coach Kelly Broderick has announced the hiring of Erin Gibbons as assistant coach.

“I am very excited about adding Erin to our staff,” Broderick said.  “She brings a wealth of knowledge from both her coaching and playing days at the Division II level.  Her energy, enthusiasm to learn, and competitiveness will be huge attributes to our program.   Her connections in PA will help us to continue to expand our recruiting into that area, and her experience in player development, film breakdown, and offensive strategies, will help us to continue our success as a program.”

Gibbons comes to D’Youville after spending the past two seasons as the assistant women’s basketball coach at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. During her two seasons with the Warriors, Gibbons helped coached the team to a 23-33 record. During the 2024-25 season, Gibbons coached All-American and First Team All-PSAC East honoree Emily Chmiel and PSAC East Freshman of the Year Brie Droege.

Prior to her time at East Stroudsburg, Gibbons was the Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. While at Shippensburg as a graduate assistant, Gibbons earned her master’s degree in Strategic Communication.

Gibbons was a solid basketball player in her own rights, playing four seasons at Shippensburg. During her time as a Raider, Gibbons helped the team become two-time PSAC East Champions and reached the NCAA Atlantic Region Semifinals during her final season. Gibbons earned her bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg in Public Relations.

Prior to her time in Shippensburg, Gibbons spent her first two years at Mansfield University. As a Mountie, Gibbons is 10th in career three-pointers with 106.
