George Porcha Added to Boston College Women’s Basketball Staff

Boston College women’s basketball head coach Joanne Bernabei-McNamee announced the addition of George Porcha to the coaching staff on Tuesday.

“George will be a great addition to our program, he has extensive experience recruiting and developing players at the highest level. He is well respected and an extremely hard worker. George is a perfect fit and we are excited to have him join our basketball family,” said coach Bernabei-McNamee.

Coach McNamee worked with Porcha at West Virginia. He will serve at the recruiting coordinator for the program.

Porcha arrives at The Heights from Ole Miss, where he was an assistant coach for two seasons. While at Ole Miss, he worked with the point guards and recruiting.

Prior to Ole Miss, Porcha was the men’s basketball coach at Woodbridge Senior High School in Virginia. While in the high school ranks, he helped run a successful Boo Williams Summer League.

Porcha also was an associate head coach at West Virginia from 2008-13. While with the Mountaineers, the team made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament and recorded the best record in program history in 2009-10 with a 29-6 mark.

He is no stranger to the ACC, as her served as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech in 2007-08.

Porcha, a native of Spring Valley, New York, earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from New Haven. While at New Haven, he played on the football team. He acquired his master’s degree in education from George Mason in 2006.
