Geary promoted to associate head coach at St. Louis

Saint Louis University head women’s basketball coach Lisa Stone has announced that assistant coach Mike Geary has been promoted to associate head coach.

Geary is embarking on his second year as a member of the Billiken staff after serving stints as an assistant coach at Detroit Mercy and Ball State. The 1979 Aquinas College graduate compiled a .758 winning percentage in 19 seasons as a head coach at the NCAA Division II level.

“It is my pleasure to promote Mike Geary to associate head coach,” Stone said. “He has done a remarkable job with our program. His experience as a successful head coach has been a great asset in building a championship program.

“Mike is highly accomplished at X’s and O’s, game strategy and practice preparation,” Stone said. “He is organized, detailed and very knowledgeable. Mike is a great teacher as well and has been exceptional at player development.

“Our players have improved under Mike’s guidance,” Stone said. “They believe in him, and I am honored to have him on the sideline next to me.”
