Army West Point Women’s Basketball Head Coach Katie Kuester has announced the hiring of Maggie Gallagher as Associate Head Coach/Director of Recruiting ahead of the 2025–26 season.
Gallagher brings a decade of experience across the Patriot League and MAAC, including championship-level success and national recognition for her impact on student-athletes.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Maggie to West Point,” said Kuester. “Maggie is one of the best coaches this profession has to offer. Aside from her coaching and recruiting capabilities, she is a phenomenal human being who truly cares about the people around her and invests in them to reach their highest capabilities. Maggie comes to West Point with a championship pedigree and, more importantly, a championship mindset.”
Gallagher joins the Black Knights after a successful return to Lehigh University, where she helped guide the Mountain Hawks to a 2024-25 Patriot League Championship, regular-season title, and 27-win campaign. Under her leadership, Lehigh saw three players earn All-League recognition, including First Team and All-Defensive Team standout Maddie Albrecht.
Before returning to Lehigh, Gallagher spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Marist College, where she helped lead the Red Foxes to multiple MAAC Championships, an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2021, a WNIT berth in 2018, and three MAAC title game appearances. During that time, she played a key role in developing standout guards and overseeing scouting and recruiting responsibilities.
In March 2021, Gallagher was honored as a WBCA Thirty Under 30 recipient, recognizing her leadership, mentorship, and service to the women’s basketball community. She earned the award following Marist’s championship season in which the team set multiple tournament records en route to a dominant title win.
Gallagher has coached and developed numerous all-conference performers, including Trinasia Kennedy (All-MAAC Third Team), Rebekah Hand (three-time All-MAAC First Team), and Grace Vander Weide (Second and Third Team All-MAAC). Her attention to detail and ability to elevate guard play have made her an asset at every stop in her career.
A Marist alumna, Gallagher was a standout student-athlete who helped guide the Red Foxes to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a WNIT showing. She was a team captain and three-time MAAC All-Academic honoree. Off the court, she served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, coached AAU, and interned in Marist’s Sports Information Department.
She began her coaching career as the Director of Basketball Operations at Lehigh, later earning a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the university in 2020. Gallagher earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Sports Communication from Marist in 2015.
A native of Stormville, N.Y., Gallagher brings a wealth of experience, a championship mindset, and a passion for mentorship to West Point.
