Fordyce Joins West Virginia University Women’s Basketball Staff

West Virginia University women’s basketball coach Mike Carey announced the addition of Bryce Fordyce to his staff as video coordinator on Tuesday. Fordyce replaces Craig Carey, who was elevated to assistant coach in June.

Fordyce previously served as the head student manager for the Mountaineers from 2013-16.

“We’re thrilled to officially add Bryce to our staff,” Carey said. “He has a lot of familiarity with our program after serving as a student manager, and he continued to gain experience after he graduated. He’ll be a great addition to our program.”

This past season, Fordyce served as the Coordinator of Basketball and Video Operations, as well as a volunteer assistant coach, for the Alderson Broaddus women’s basketball team. He worked on team travel, video exchange, community engagement and alumni outreach among other duties. Fordyce worked with Synergy Editor and Synergy Video Express software to upload and download game film, using Fast Draw and Fast Scout to prepare video for scouting purposes.

“I’m excited to be back at West Virginia,” said Fordyce. “I would like to thank coach Carey for the opportunity to return to a program that taught me so much. I value the experience I got working with the team as an undergraduate and look forward to taking this next step with the Mountaineers.”

Fordyce spent the 2017-18 season as the boys’ junior varsity coach at Saint Francis deSales Central Catholic School in Morgantown. He coordinated practice and game schedules, organized and managed game film and assisted with team practices.

During his previous tenure at WVU, Fordyce assisted the video coordinator with cutting and downloading game film for future contests, organizing opposing teams scouting reports and managing duties for filming all practices/games. Additionally, he assisted with recruiting visits and game day operations.

A native of Morgantown, Fordyce boasts a pair of degrees from WVU. He earned a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies with concentrations in athletic coaching, business management and communication studies in 2016 and recently completed a master’s in corporate and organizational communications.
