Fordham Staff Update

Head Coach Stephanie Gaitley has announced the addition of Clare Berenato to her staff as the team’s assistant director of operations for the 2014-15 season.

Katelyn Linney, who previously held that title, has been elevated to the position of administrative assistant.

"Clare comes from great basketball bloodlines," said Gaitley. "Her mom, Agnus was the head coach at Pitt and her aunt [Bernadette McGlade] is our A-10 Commissioner. She has great knowledge of the game and is a terrific people person. We are excited to welcome her to the Fordham family."

Berenato, a 2013 graduate of Seton Hill University, comes to Fordham after serving as an assistant coach at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. With the Falcons, Berenato worked primarily with post players, while also helping develop practice plans, in-game strategy and scouting reports.

Prior to her time at Lackawanna, Berenato was a standout player at Seton Hill, twice serving as a team captain. As a senior, Berenato led the Griffins to an appearance in the WVIAC championship game, two years after helping her squad reach the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2009-10.

A Pittsburgh, Pa., native, Berenato also has extensive volunteer and community service qualifications, including, but no limited to, stints with the United Way, YMCA and Race for the Cure.
