Peru State announces the addition of Jillian Flores as she joins the coaching staff of the women’s basketball program. This will be her first year as a graduate assistant coach for the Bobcats.
A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Flores began her collegiate career playing at her hometown junior college, Iowa Western Community College (IWCC), in 2007. There, Flores served as a key role player and served dually as a Presidential Scholar for the school. Flores was honored as an Academic All-American during her two years at IWCC.

After completing her two years at IWCC, she finished her junior and senior years at Benedictine College (Atchison, Kan.) where she was a starting power forward. Best known for her fiery competitiveness and leadership on and off the court, she helped lead her team to finishing at the top of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) both years. She also continued with her academic success and was named a Scholar-Athlete both years she played at Benedictine.
A Lewis Central high school (Council Bluffs, Iowa) 2007 graduate, Flores received her bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in criminology in 2011. Shortly after, Flores worked as a social worker for children and youth and then with developmentally-disabled individuals. After working as a legal assistant for the last year, Flores is eager to pursue a master’s degree and develop her skills as a coach. Flores is pursuing her degree in organizational management with an emphasis in human services, through Chadron State College.
Flores will also be working in the Residence Life Department at Peru State.
