FLC women’s basketball tabs Audra Lynn as Assistant Coach

The Fort Lewis College women’s basketball program is excited to announce the hiring of Audra Lynn as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach heading into the 2021-22 season.

A local Colorado product, Lynn has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Otero Junior College in La Junta where she helped guide the Rattlers to a 19-4 finish in 2020-21, punctuated by a Sweet 16 appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

FLC first-year head coach Taylor Harris has been a long-time admirer of Lynn’s work from afar, and got a first-hand look at the Rattlers after his 2020-21 Miles Community College team also advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NJCAA DI National Tournament this past April.

“I am really excited to have Audra join our coaching staff. I have known Audra for five years, and she truly is a rising star in our profession,” Harris said. “The women of our Fort Lewis basketball program truly have an empowered woman empowering them as women, and that is vital to the success of our student athletes.”

Lynn comes to Durango with 10 years of coaching experience, including as the head coach at Chatfield Senior High (Class 5A) in Denver from 2017-19, as well as head coaching experience with Premier Basketball Club and Rocky Mountain Fever.

A Denver native, Lynn earned her bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in Sport Journalism where she played for the Colorado Hoopsters. She later went on to earn her Master’s degree in Sports Coaching from the University of Denver.

“Not only is Audra a charismatic and energetic coach, but she is truly gifted in her ability to create relationships,” Harris said. “Add in that she has head coaching experience, junior college experience, and strong local ties, it’s easy to see why she was the first phone call for this position.  I am excited to watch Audra continue to grow and ascend in this profession, and we are very lucky to have her here in Durango.”

The addition of Lynn completes the FLC women’s basketball coaching staff entering the 2021-22 campaign as she joins Harris and Jason Flores, who will serve as a Special Assistant. Flores spent seven seasons as the Skyhawks head coach from 2012-2019.

“Our staff with Audra and Jason is one that is experienced and relationship based.  I am lucky to be a coach with assistants that have all been head coaches,” Harris said. “We are all focused on providing an environment that allows our student athletes to have the best experience possible, and I couldn’t be more excited about this journey.”
