McCormick Endowed Athletic Director Marcus Blossom announced that Creighton University women’s basketball head coach Jim Flanery has signed a contract extension. The previous contract was set to expire after the completion of the 2024-25 basketball season. Terms of the new contract will not be disclosed.
Having just completed his 22nd season at the helm for the Bluejays, Flanery has built an impressive record of 427-268 including 12 seasons with 20-wins or more. Under Flanery the Bluejays have reached seven NCAA Tournament, highlighted by an Elite Eight run in 2022. Prior to Flanery’s tenure, Creighton had 436 wins as a program and reached the NCAA Tournament three times.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to stay at Creighton and to work with such quality student-athletes and staff,” said Flanery. “I’d like to thank Marcus and Father Hendrickson for their continued faith in myself, this staff and the direction of the program. Anyone that knows me, knows how integral Creighton is to my life. I look forward to continuing to lead the program.”
“Jim Flanery has led our women’s basketball program to great achievements during his time at Creighton, and to new heights in recent years. Just as important, he’s a great teammate and tremendous representative of Creighton who provides a positive impact on the experience of our women’s basketball student-athletes – both on and off the court,” said Blossom. “I’m excited for the opportunity to continue to support Jim and his staff as we work to elevate this program”
