The head coach is responsible for the direction, instruction, supervision, and coaching of the women’s basketball program and the oversight and development of student athletes. Responsibilities also include the overall administration of the program including, but not limited to, compliance with all NCAA regulations, adherence to the standards of the college, budget management, academic support, scheduling, and the recruitment of qualified student-athletes.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Head Women’s Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:
- May supervise a Graduate Assistant or assistant coaches if hired
EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
Works from an office at Crown College. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, printer, fax machine, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Responsible for all aspects related to ensuring compliance with all NCAA III rules and regulations on the part of the Athletic Department and the athletic staff
- Successful execution of this position includes but is not limited to:
- certifying the eligibility of all student-athletes, coaches, and staff on a continual basis,
- administration of the NCAA compliance test with athletic staff,
- administration of all team compliance meetings and certification of necessary paperwork,
- monitoring of all athletic staff in relation to compliance, preparation and execution of procedures for investigations into possible violations of regulations,
- serving as liaison with the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and NCAA offices, and education of athletic staff regarding NCAA regulations
- Recruit and retain student athletes
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Be in agreement with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant
- Successful experience as a head coach or substantial experience as an assistant coach.
- Successful experience in the field of NCAA compliance.
- Demonstrate excellent writing and speaking skills
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of NCAA III philosophy and regulations.
- Demonstrate high organizational and data management ability.
- Demonstrated budget preparation and management
- Funding raising ability is a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3 years Collegiate level coaching experience as head coach or assistant coach
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree preferred but not necessary
