University of Vermont women’s interim head basketball coach Alisa Kresge has announced the additions of Eileen Van Horn and TJ Sawyer as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
“I had the pleasure of recruiting and coaching Eileen at Marist,” said Kresge. “Eileen was the model student-athlete and teammate who was a joy to be around. She understands what it takes, as a student-athlete and coach, in order to be successful. I know that she will be a great role-model and mentor to our student-athletes. Her knowledge of the game will help develop our guard play and offense. I’m so excited to welcome her to Catamount Country.”
Sawyer has coached basketball in the Burlington area since 2009 and joins the Catamounts after two years as the girls varsity coach at South Burlington High School. Last season, South Burlington posted a record of 15-7 and finished fourth in the entire state in Division I. Sawyer previously served three years as an assistant coach at St. Michael’s College and was the varsity coach at nearby Colchester High School from 2009-13.
“I’m thrilled to announce that TJ will be joining our coaching staff,” said Kresge. “TJ speaks of Vermont and women’s basketball with passion and love – I can’t wait for him to share his excitement with our team, program, and future Catamounts. TJ’s combined collegiate and high school coaching experience over the last 13 years will be a great asset on the court with player development, game planning, and helping our system evolve.”
Van Horn and Sawyer join second-year assistant coach Dominique Bryant, who also coached Van Horn for the final three years of her NCAA career at Marist.
