Drill of the Week

1 v 1 drills are essential for basketball shooting development as they replicate the pressure and decision-making of real game situations. These drills force players to create their own shots, improve their ball handling, and develop the ability to score from various angles and distances, all important components of becoming a proficient shooter. Check out a great contested shooting drill to add to your routine in the video below!

Players start stacked on the wing, the shooter in front with the defender behind. On the Dish’s pass out, the shooter can choose either cone dribble around. The player must dribble two times before shooting. On the shooter’s first move, the defender runs around the opposite cone before contesting the jump shot.
