Former 3x NBA Champion and NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott breaks down a great drill for players to work on conditioning and shooting from the elbow using the Dr. Dish Home machine.


During this drill, players should focus on maintaining proper balance when catching the pass from the Dish. Also, when players are pulling through they need to ensure that their body is aligned with their target, the hoop. Check out the video below for the full breakdown!

Elbow Conditioning Shooting

  • Drill 1: Catch and Shoot: Players will start at the sideline and slide to the elbow to catch and shoot off the pass from the Dish.
  • Drill 2: 1 Dribble Pull Up Left: Players will start at the sideline and slide to the elbow to catch the pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble once to the left and shoot.
  • Drill 3: Dribble Pull Up Right: Players will start at the sideline and slide to the elbow to catch the pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble once to the right and shoot.
  • Drill 4: Step Back: Players will start at the sideline and slide to the elbow to catch the pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble a couple times to the left, step back and shoot.
  • Drill 5: Runner/Floater: Players will start at the sideline and slide to the elbow to catch the pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble to the right down the middle of the lane for a floater shot.
