Dominican University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Antonio Rivas announced two new additions to his coaching staff as Maryam Wilcher and Ashley Green will serve as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Both Wilcher and Green will assist in recruiting, skills training, and handle strategic defensive responsibilities for the Stars this upcoming season.
Maryam Wilcher, a Lagrange Illinois native, comes to Dominican with prior coaching and playing experience. Wilcher competed at the Division I level having played at Indiana State then completing her career at St. Edward’s University. After her playing days, Wilcher joined the women’s basketball staff at Western New Mexico University as a graduate assistant coach for two seasons. During her time at WNMU, Wilcher assisted with workouts, scouting, travel/transportation, as well as coordinating academic progress and social media accounts.
Ashley Green joins the staff having spent her playing career at Marquette University and Louisiana Tech. Green played professionally overseas, serving as a member of the Puerto Rican National Team after graduation from Louisiana Tech. The Geneva High School graduate went on to earn her Master’s in Counseling at Northwestern University in 2020 and is currently pursuing her PH.D in Community Psychology at National Louis University. Green also spent some time after her playing days to serve as a basketball coach and skills trainer in the Cyrstal Lake area.
“I am truly excited to add Maryam and Ashely to our staff for the upcoming season”, commented Rivas. “They both bring high level playing experience along with energy and enthusiasm which I believe will help our program move forward”.
