Roxbury CC (MA) head women’s basketball coach Mark Leszczyk has resigned from his post which will become effective at the end of the season. Leszczyk actually tendered his resignation back on January 2nd after the sudden and unjust firing of the athletic director Erica Rivers.
“I have spent a dozen year’s building this program from scratch at Roxbury Community College and watched it blossom into a premiere Junior College program.” Said Leszczyk. “I am extremely grateful for my past and current players who have made such an impact on my life, who put their faith in me, shared the vision of our program, and used Roxbury as their “bridge to greatness.” Unfortunately, differences with the vision of the new administration here has forced me look in a different direction. I am excited for the new opportunities that await me as I will continue to work at the Junior College level, as I have for the past two decades.”
Leszczyk has had tremendous success during his career at RCC, including winning the 2016 NJCAA DIII National Championship. His accomplishments have included:
- 2016 National Champions
- 5 National Championship game appearances
- 9 Conference Champions
- 6 Regional Champions
- 7 All Americans
- 2 National Players of the Year
