WHoopDirt.com can confirm that Barbara Burgess has been released as the head women’s basketball coach at Delaware State. Assistant Coach Kyle Adams will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Burgess, one of the greatest players in DSU history, took over as the head coach in May 2015. She had also served as an assistant at Hampton and Norfolk State and worked as the head coach at Virginia Union (1999-2001).

This is Adams first season at Delaware State. He had previously been the associate head coach at North Carolina Central, and had also been the head coach at his alma mater, Cheyney University (Pa).

An official announcement is expected shortly.
