George Washington women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti has announced that former Assistant Director of Operations Kevin DeMille has been elevated to the position of assistant coach.

DeMille has worked closely with Rizzotti over the past three years. Prior to last season at GW, he served as the video coordinator for the Women’s National Team at the 2014 FIBA World Championship in Istanbul, Turkey, where Rizzotti was an assistant coach. The pair was also on staff for the gold-medal winning Women’s National Team in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.

“Kevin’s whole life has been about women’s basketball,” said Rizzotti. “He grew up watching his mom coach one of the best high school girls basketball programs in the state of New Jersey. His journey then took him to UConn where he learned what it takes to be the very best at the college level. He respects our game more than most young people I know. His loyalty to me is fortunately matched by a drive to succeed and impact the lives of our young women in the most positive way possible. I’m truly lucky that our paths crossed during our time as support staff for the 2016 Olympic team and look forward to seeing what he can help us accomplish here at GW.”

“I am so excited to be joining the coaching staff at GW,” said DeMille. “Coach Rizzotti is one of the most talented and passionate coaches in our sport and has become a close friend and mentor during the three years we have worked together with George Washington and USA Basketball. I am so grateful for the opportunity to step into this new role and for the trust that she has in me. I am ready to help her continue to build on her vision for GW Women’s Basketball.”

Prior to arriving at GW, DeMille spent seven years working with the University of Connecticut. He spent his four undergraduate years as a practice player and student manager before serving one semester as a graduate assistant. He was then hired as the Assistant Director of Operations. He played a key role behind the scenes on five National Championship teams during his tenure, including seven Final Four squads.

He earned his degree in Social Science of Sport from UConn in 2013 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Media and Strategic Communication at GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
