Dean has interim tag removed; named full-time Women’s Basketball Head Coach at Truman State

Truman State Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering informed the Bulldog Women’s Basketball team that the interim tag has been removed from Head Coach Theo Dean and he will become the 11th full time coach in program history.

“I am thrilled to have him here at Truman State leading our women’s basketball program,” said Wollmering. “I have watched his passion, integrity, and enthusiasm for the past four months leading this program and that was enough to lead me to making this a permanent decision now.”

Dean’s Bulldogs are 9-3 on the season and have started Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a school-record five-game winning streak. Two of the three losses have come against the University of Central Missouri and the University of Sioux Falls, who are a combine 26-5 on the season to date.

“It’s a blessing to officially be named the Head Coach for Truman Women’s Basketball,” said Coach Dean.  I want to thank Jerry Wollmering and President Sue Thomas for this tremendous opportunity. My players have worked extremely hard this season and have shown great dedication towards continuing the tradition of Women’s Basketball here at Truman. I look forward to the opportunity to build upon the foundation that we’ve laid, work hard, and get 1% better every single day.”

The Bulldogs will begin their toughest stretch with five games over a 10-day period beginning on Thursday at home against the University of Illinois Springfield.
