Davis Elevated at NC State

Jonathan Davis of the NC State women’s basketball staff has been promoted, head coach Wes Moore announced on Thursday. Serving as the Wolfpack’s Video Coordinator during the 2013-14 season, Davis will now be NC State’s Director of Scouting and Video Operations effective immediately.

“The biggest thing about Jonathan is that he brings a lot of versatility, which is something you like in that position,” Moore said. “He has a basketball background as a former Division I assistant coach and also brings a lot of expertise to the video side of things.

“We’re definitely excited to make this move and give him even more responsibility in our program.”

Prior to joining NC State ahead of the Wolfpack’s recent 25-8 season, Davis spent 11 seasons working with Belmont University’s men’s and women’s basketball programs. In his final five seasons with the women’s program, he served as an assistant coach who also played a large role in player development, recruiting, team travel, and management of the program’s budget.

“NC State is a very special place,” Davis said. “I am honored to be a part of Coach Moore’s staff here and contribute in any way that I can.

“I’ve had the unique privilege to work for some incredible basketball minds in Rick Byrd, Tony Cross, and Brittney Ezell at Belmont University, and that really prepared me to take the next step, leave my hometown, and work to build something new in the nation’s best basketball conference. There is a real excitement surrounding this program and I’m definitely looking forward to beginning my second season with the Wolfpack Women.”

The NC State women’s basketball team will begin its 2014-15 season with a home exhibition against Lenoir-Rhyne College on Nov. 7. The season will then officially begin at home on Nov. 14 against Tennessee State.
