The Daniel Webster College department of athletics has announced the recent appointment of Andrea Woodbury to Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Chris Gilmore.
"We are truly pleased to add Andrea to the DWC athletics department and to the College," Said Gilmore. "She brings an extraordinary coaching background and her years of experience will pay immediate dividends as we look to remain an annual challenger for the New England Collegiate Conference championship."
"I’m honored to join the Daniel Webster College program," said Woodbury. "The women’s basketball program at DWC has been one of the most consistent performers in the NECC since its inception and we expect to remain among the best as we move forward."
A native of Bristol, N.H., Woodbury spent last season as an assistant coach with Dartmouth College and spent the previous 22 years with the Siena College (NCAA I) program in a variety of roles including nine years as Associate Head Coach (2003-2012), and 12 years as assistant coach where she also served as coordinator of recruiting and scouting.
During her tenure in Albany, N.Y., the Saints won seven Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season titles and 336 games. The program was honored during that time with six academic All-American selections, 39 all-conference honorees, seven MAAC Players of the Year, four MAAC Rookies of the Year, and 20 players went on to play professionally.
Woodbury is also a former assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire University, and head coach at Northern Essex Community College.
Woodbury is a graduate of Ithaca College and owns a Masters of Business Administration from SNHU.
Woodbury inherits an Eagle program that has been the most successful overall in the NECC since the league began play in 2008-09. Over that five year span, the program has posted an overall record of 88-50 (.637) including a 60-24 (.714) mark in NECC regular season play.
The program has reached five successive NECC final fours, three championship games, and won the tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in 2011. The program has also been the recipient of the last four NECC "Player of the Year" awards.
