A fairly quiet day out there today. Here are some of the things that I’ve heard….
• I’ve heard that McNeese State assistant Sallie Guillory has been offered a spot on the staff at Louisiana-Lafayette. Guillory was on new ULL head coach Garry Brodhead staff at McNeese State, and also worked for him at Teurlings Catholic HS (LA). She actually replaced him at Tuerlings when Brodhead took the McNeese job, and then rejoined him in 2009 at McNeese.
• The “hot” name at Michigan right now is Vanderbilt head coach Melanie Balcomb. She was involved in the search the last time around as well. During her tenure at Vandy, she has averaged 24 wins per season, and won three SEC titles. She has also been the head coach at Xavier. Another name that I keep hearing is Tennessee assistant Dean Lockwood. He has a ton of Michigan ties – he is a Michigan native who has been the head coach at Northwood and Saginaw Valley. He has also been an assistant at Central Michigan and played at Spring Arbor. He is also believed to have been involved with this gig the last time around.
• Details of new Texas head coach Karen Aston’s contract are starting to emerge. She is due to make $600,000 per year and has the potential to reach up to $275,000 in bonuses. She will also receive a one time “relocation” payment of $115,000.
